At Urbandale Healthcare Center, we want to assure you that we are adhering to rigorous infection control practices throughout our facility. We are conducting tests every 3-7 days, a weekly facility-wide testing per the Iowa Dept. of Health guidance and CMS. Regular testing is an effective method of slowing the virus’s spread, so we look forward to continuing this practice until the virus is no longer prevalent. We continue to stay in touch with the County Health Department to ensure we are following the most up-to-date policies and procedures to defend against the spread of the virus. We are also collaborating with our medical director daily.

As a reminder, the following defensive measures are in place at our facility:

  • Closely monitoring and screening all residents and team members for symptoms on a daily and shift-by-shift basis. This includes temperature checks and other CDC-recommended screenings.
  • Enforcing social distancing.
  • Practicing frequent hand hygiene in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Frequent disinfecting of high-touch surfaces to decrease environmental contamination.
  • Taking higher-than-required protective equipment precautions, such as wearing N95 masks, gloves and gowns as situations warrant their use.
